We chose Copenhagen as an example of a sustainable city because we think we can learn a lot from it and try to copy its eco friendliness.
As a matter of fact, it’s one of the most sustainable and energy efficient cities in the world. Copenhagen has also elaborated a plan that will make this city carbon neutral by 2025. A number of initiatives that have helped support this goal include: Copenhagen's eco-friendly transport modes, climate change sensitivity, sustainable urban redevelopment, and efficient energy use tactics.
SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION
As far as public transportation goes bikes have surpassed cars with 265,700 bikes to 252,600 cars.
The fact is that Copenhagen's bike infrastructure and well-maintained bike paths allow for smart mobility within the city.
This led to the elimination of more than a third of all fossil fuel use and 90,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year, and of course this is providing better air quality to the city.
